For the second year running Ulster Bank recognise the hard work of UCD students, awarding four students from University College Dublin a monetary prize based on their professional work experience (PWE) during the 3rd year of their undergraduate degree from various different divisions of the school of Agricultural. Over 650 attend “Women & Agriculture Conference” in Killarney

Over 650 attended the Women & Agriculture Conference in Killarney on October 17th. The main themes were ‘The Farming Journey’ and ‘Personal Journeys’. Speakers on the day included Matt Dempsey (Editor of the Irish Farmers Journal), Dr.Thia Hennessy (Agriculture Economist, Teagasc), Áine Lawlor (RTE) and Dr. Maureen Gaffney (Psychologist and Broadcaster). Teagasc Farm Walk

Despite the bad weather conditions, a big crowd turned out for the Teagasc farm walk in Johnstown Castle, Co.Wexford on Wednesday 10th October. Ailish Byrne and Deirdre O’Shea (Ulster Bank Agri. Team) were among those who attended. The event focused on ‘Early Maturing Dairy Calf to Beef Trial’. This is an important area as these type of farming systems will become more prevalent from 2015 onwards due to the abolition of milk quotas.
