Ulster Bank’s Business Women Can Programme delighted to be associated with the successful 2014 BPW Galway Summer Lunch
On Friday the 16th May, over 200 women gathered at the Ardilaun Hotel Galway for the annual Business and Professional Women’s (“BPW”) Summer Lunch hosted by BPW Galway President Moyra McMahon. The Guest Speaker, European Commissioner for Research Innovation and Science, Maire Geoghegan Quinn outlined the important work being undertaken throughout Europe in research and innovation. She stressed the importance and value of equal participation for women and men, particularly in research, with evidence showing that gender diversity produced better results.
At the event, Fiona Kingston, Programme Director for Ulster Bank’s Business Women Can said: “Ulster Bank’s sponsorship of the BPW Summer Lunch is an opportunity work with a key women’s organisation in the West. The BPW ethos to share, educate and give a voice to women is a particularly good fit with Business Women Can’s sole focus of offering support to female entrepreneurs around the country.”
“I was delighted to have the opportunity to hear from a speaker of the calibre of Commissioner Geoghean Quinn. I also want to wish Moyra McMahon well for her presidency and congratulate her on the BPW Galway Club being chosen as the host for the BPW European Congress in 2019. Welcoming over 500 delegates to Galway is a huge undertaking but also an opportunity to showcase the lovely City of Galway and the very talented working women in the West.”
