Business Can Ambassador Olwen Dawe

Business expert Olwen Dawe, of Irish Business Intelligence, will speak at a free breakfast seminar for employers this Friday (September 20) in the Harlequin Hotel, Castlebar, as part of Mayo Ideas Week. The event is hosted by the Irish Association of Supported Employment (IASE), which works to promote equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities using a model called supported employment. Employers will have the opportunity to learn more about disability in the workforce, inclusive recruitment and workplace practices and the benefits of supported employment for their business.

Registration starts at 8.30 a.m. with speakers, exhibition stands and refreshments between 9 and 11 a.m. Ms. Dawe works with SMEs, enterprises and economic development agencies and projects as an advisor, project manager and mentor.

Ms. Dawe is also an active blogger, commentator and writer.

She is an advocate for female entrepreneurship and has held several roles within Network Ireland. Ms. Dawe has chaired the Developing Enterprise Skillnet, been Ambassador to the Towns of Excellence Institute and was appointed as an Ambassador for female entrepreneurship as part of the Ulster Bank Business Women Can initiative in 2012.

She regularly speaks at, and chairs, events and seminars focused on enterprise development – such as the European Commission’s programme for female entrepreneurship

This free event, which is part of an employer focussed project called Open Door, will be of interest to employers and human resource professionals across all sectors. To register, or for more information, contact Margaret Halloran, IASE employment development officer, on (086) 7910402 or by email
