Business Woman Can ambassador profiled; Susan Phelan

Susan Phelan opened The Vocal Chord Recording Studio in Midleton on 22 January 2011.  The whole idea behind the studio was to give everybody a chance to record in a fully kitted out professional setting.  No age limit or judgement.  Just a chance to come in either for fun or to record for auditions etc. with the best possible state of the art facilities available to make your project sound the very best.

Susan who was born and lived in Dublin has travelled and lived abroad in Belgium, London, Gibraltar and Los Angeles moved to Cork in 2001 and says it captured her heart.  She has had a very colourful career from selling encyclopaedia in Dublin and London to registering yachts in Gibraltar to working with the Australian Federal Police in Los Angeles.

Over the two years since it has been open the studio has gone through changes in use.  Many fabulously talented people have come through the doors and recorded at the studio.  Others have come in for fun and enjoyed the experience walking away with a magical moment captured.  Susan now hosts recording parties for children, hens and stags and surprise parties where groups come and record a number of songs and have the time of their lives doing it.

On the other side Susan is now recording voice over’s in 5 languages for Amazon whose European head office is based in Cork.  She is doing more an more audio for therapists such as life coaches, hypnotherapists and the results they are getting from their clients is phenomenal.

Parents have been recording stories on CD for their children when they have a hectic schedule and cannot always be there at bedtime.  Children are recording songs for parents or grandparents which would melt the heart.  Susan has even recorded a couple singing a duet which they intend to play as they walk into their wedding reception this August!
