Combining Social Media and SEO

When it comes to getting your brand the attention and needs it deserves, combining social media and  SEO (search engine optimization) is definitely the way to go.

SEO is being used and analyzed more and more by businesses who ultimately want to draw traffic back to their websites.

While you may not be an expert on just how SEO works, it is not all that hard to get a firm handle on it, whether it be you and/or your team or having an outside SEO expert do the work for you.

Social Networking Goes Far

For example, if you run a real estate business.

Sure, you are likely to get a fair amount of business by word-of-mouth and customer referrals, but you can’t solely rely on that being your only way to promote your brand.

Look at your company’s website, specifically your blog. There are many great reasons to maintain a company blog.

Are you posting relevant articles on the site on a regular basis? If not, you are missing out on landing potential news business. Posting relevant blog content expands your keyword universe and gives you many more keywords that you can become visible in search for.

With the right SEO game plan in place, you can draw traffic to your site by keyword terms that rank high on Google, which will in turn catch the eyes of countless consumers.

Some of the keywords a real estate company would want to zero-in on include:

  • [city] real estate
  • Real estate for sale in [city]
  • Selling real estate in [city]
  • [city] homes for sale

Whether you do it in-house or outsource your SEO needs to a consultant, use the knowledge of the folks in charge to bring views and traffic to your website, ultimately leading to more sales. You have to trust the process and who is running it.

Another key factor here is making sure your SEO terms are not viewed as spammy, especially by search engines such as Google. If that happens, your site could drop in terms of its ranking, not to mention consumers may feel like all you are trying to do is sell them something 24/7.

With the social media component in play, you can promote articles (with keywords in them) on sites like Facebook, Google+, Twitter and more. This is a great way to get your brand out in the public eye, giving you a leg-up on the competition.

It is also important that you network with others on social media.

If you want someone to promote a piece that you have written or someone else has in discussing your brand, share some copy that they have produced. By promoting each other’s brands, you stand to draw-in more viewers to your website.

One last key item regarding SEO is keyword placement.

If you write an article and are using keywords in it, don’t make it overly obvious that you are trying to promote your brand by sticking a keyword in the first sentence of the first paragraph.

Look to see where the keyword or keywords flow naturally, making it easier for consumers to read and comprehend your articles.

With SEO efforts only expected to grow in the years to come, partnering SEO and social media only stands to reason as a smart business approach.
