Part of making the web work profitably is being listed on www.FaceBook.com, www.Twitter.com , www.Smallbusinesscan.com , www.LinkedIn.com and any relevant Industry, business or local portals. Make the time to get listed or buy some time from someone like www.EzSales.ie or www.BuaMarketing.ie or any easy to find Social Media specialists. They all know what time is involved and do a FREE quote for setting you up with say 6 sites. After that you will find it easy to post news from time to time and stay up to date. Get past the confusion, Have fun with it and prosper.

Michael MacGinty replied to the topic Re: social media and online marketing in the forum.Hey Alex,
You started a great string here and i hope Fionan will make sure that the topic continues as this debate is far from over Even when we all share current Best Practice, the best advice will need to be updated regularly with all the changes as a result of new Google algorithms or new avenues of Social Media.
The people who can effect Best Practice do not need to be SEO or SEM "Experts", anyone can take good advice from here and learn, but it is a job that can also be outsourced to someone who is proficient, has the time and is willing to do it at a fair price - if you can identify them. We can all paint our own homes, but we can also get a Professional Painter toi do it. Which painter would you use ? Probably someone who has been referred to you by someone who has used the same painter. That Word of Mouth marketing is so so important in our decision making.
Good luck with Pets.

Michael MacGinty replied to the topic Re: Recommend a good SEO company? in the forum.Niall,
Rather than take down the thread why not keep it up and tell us about your experience with Just Start and how the one year contract works for you.
Let us know exactly what you are trying to promote and we can all watch the progress.
This is a very important area for SMEs and as with so much traditional advertising it can be hard to see where you are getting a return. But it is much more measurable via the web, so investing in SEO should allow you gauge your return on investment.
PageMax and EZSales make themselves visible in this forum and set themselves up for criticism, positive or negative, so i would recommend a chat with them for anyone considering a spend on SEO. There should be no cloak and dagger stuff, so where someone brings benefit to your enterprise they should be rewarded. I, too, would warn against One Year contracts if there is no Opt Out option.
Looking forward to this thread continuing and Fionan making it a measuring gauge for SMEs interested in promotion online.
