Good question. Since the rules for directors stem from the special fiduciary duties they owe it's unlikely that the same would apply to employees. So if you have a great sales or technology person you really need to lock them in with a specific non-compete obligation. Directors' duties come from company law and common law rules and are well established in Ireland and the UK.

For business I use Elara (an Irish company) and Pixmania. For home I add Amazon to that list. I've generally been happier with Elara than Pixmania and it's obviously good to be able to buy Irish at competitive costs.

It's a great question but I would echo the concerns voiced by Philip. Even if you could get acceptable terms from a wholesaler this has become a scale business and it will be difficult to build up to the scale.

An interesting twist (assuming you have the expertise) could be to combine services/consultancy to recommend the best products and then take a commission on the purchase in addition to a service fee. Maybe you could carry out the installation and setup too. You'd have to make sure the commission was disclosed and structured so as to work in your and the client's best interests.
