Description
Hogan's Farm, established in 1962, is a family-run turkey business, based in Cortown, Kells, Co. Meath. Celebrating 50 years in business this year, it is now in its second generation. The firm employs 45 full-time permanent staff, which increases to 100 at Christmas. Last year, the company's turnover was approx 8 million.
Hogan's Farm originally started out supplying fresh turkeys for the Christmas market and moved quickly to providing a range of turkey products to the foodservice industry, but now operates mainly in the retail sector, supplying to major retailers including Dunnes Stores, Musgrave's, Superquinn, Aldi and BWG. Christmas is still a very important season for the company.
In recent years, as turkey began to be recognised as a healthy alternative to red and other white meats, the business has expanded to facilitate growth and demand. Now specialising in fresh and cooked turkey, Hogan's Farm has two main processing facilities: the farm and fresh factory near Kells and a state-of the-art cooking facility in Rathcairn, Co. Meath. Both plants have full BRC accreditation and are members of the Bord Bia Quality Assurance Scheme.
