Who needs an office anymore? When asked, a full three out of five employees responded that they can be productive even when away from their desks. Today’s tablet technology makes it possible to get work done almost anywhere—at home, over lunch, and even while traveling.
Here’s a look at how employees the world over are working smarter to get more done:
- 17 % of mobile workers use their tablets either before or during their morning commute. One of the first things that many people do when they wake up is reach for their tablets. Employees are catching up on emails, checking the headlines, and making important decisions all during the hours before the typical office hours begin.
- 58 % of mobile workers believe that they will rely more on their tablets this year than they did last year. This makes sense when you consider that tablets are becoming more robust for business users—you can now find tablets that offer advanced security features and office apps that have similar features to those you’d find on a PC. Tablets also offer ease of use and portability that’s hard for any other device to replicate.
- 72 % of mobile workers want to be able to use their personal mobile devices for work. With mobile productivity on the rise, employers need to implement BYOD strategies that allow workers to use the device they want without compromising data or network security.
Mobile email grew 36 percent from November 2009 to November 2010 while web-based email declined 6 percent for the same period. Workers are constantly connected—they don’t have to worry about missing important emails or messages because they’re notified instantly wherever they are.
