How to Promote Your Business Using Pinterest

If you are doing any social media marketing by now, you probably have a Pinterest account and are dutifully pinning to idea boards and following your followers, but with Pinterest rolling out the goods this fall with, first, the new business account option, and, most recently, the “places” option, it’s time to step it up. Here’s a few tips on how to promote your business using Pinterest.

Pintroduce yourself

Get personal with your pinterest boards. You want your audience to see you as a person, not just as a product. How can you do this? Consider having personalized boards for featured employees to pin videos, photos, and products (from your site, too!) that they like. And have one for yourself, too.

Pinvolve

Contests contests contests! Figure out when your followers are online and concoct a contest for them to participate in. Give away packages containing a collection of merchandise, some branded, some not. Not only has giving away free gifts been demonstrated to court business away from competitors, you will also gain a new understanding of your followers.

Pinquire

Change over to a Pinterest Business account today. Do it now. Why? By doing so, you’ll get access to Pinterest’s nifty analytics feature that is only available for businesses. This feature allows you to see what your followers are pinning to their boards from other sites and your sites, enabling you to see what your market is interested in.

Pinteract

Consider using your pinterest account as a brainstorming space for employees and customers. Create special boards for projects with clients (a protip—make them secret!) so you can share ideas and inspiration with each other. By making the consultation process fun, you will soon get a devoted customer.

Pinvite

Have connections? Use them. One of the most innovative ways I’ve seen Pinterest used was by Nars when they invited multiple stylists to create boards on their own accounts that complemented an upcoming collection by Nars. The company then only allowed customers to purchase the pencil through the link on the designers’ pages, giving credit to both the company and the collaborator.
