Eight leading Munster based businesses have been announced as winners at the Munster final of the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards.
Companies were rigorously judged on a variety of merits including financial performance, company milestones and achievements, future strategy for the business and development of innovative products and services. The Munster judging panel was made up of Dan Byrne, Chairman of Lincor Solutions, Tom Leahy, Regional Director, Ulster Bank, Fionan Murray, Co-Founder of SmallBusinessCan.com, Jerry Moloney, Enterprise Ireland, and Margaret Hearty, InterTradeIreland.
Over 120 companies from the province entered the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards with over 25% of businesses entering the ‘Best Business Start-up Award’ category and 25% entering the ‘Service Business Award’ category.

- Social Entrepreneurship Award – Cork Simon Community, Cork

- Family Run Business Award – O’Connell Group, Cork
- Green Business Award – VERDELED, Cork
- Agriculture, Food & Drink Award – Clonakilty Blackpudding Co., Cork
- Service Business Award – Barry & Fitzwilliam, Cork
Speaking at the Munster provincial awards, Tom Leahy, Ulster Bank Regional Director, said: “The Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards recognises and rewards business success. The awards, now in their 18th year, are in association with the Irish Independent, Enterprise Ireland and InterTradeIreland. Each Munster winner will now go on to compete with provincial winners from Leinster, Ulster and Connaught for the national title and individual category title at the all-island final in April.
Over 370 businesses from the island of Ireland entered this year’s awards, which aim to recognise and reward business success, regardless of business product, service, size, or sector.
The winner in each category will receive a specially commissioned award, local and national PR opportunities, entry into the national awards and a dedicated profile page on the Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards website.
The 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achiever will receive a comprehensive reward package including a publishing bursary with the Irish Independent, business mentoring, a full service communications workshop, as well as national and regional PR opportunities.
