Pet Sitters Ireland opens online ’boutique’

Following on from its nationwide pet sitting and dog walking business, Pet Sitters Ireland in Co Wicklow has launched a ‘pet boutique’ offering a range of accessories.

“Despite the recession, people still want to spoil their pets and we received numerous requests from customers looking for high quality unique pet care products,” said Pet Sitters Ireland founder Kate McQuillan.

Many of the items on sale at the boutique have been made especially for the company. “We wanted to work with local award-winning craftspeople to develop items that were different to other products out there, and that were handmade by Irish craftsmen and women in Ireland.

“We have developed a range of beds, bowls and treats, with a range of collars and leads to follow over coming months.”

One of the first products on sale are beds handmade using a rubberised coconut fiber mattress at the core, with luxurious cambric cotton with Joma wool toppers for the dog beds. They have either vibrant felt covers for cats or small pillows for dogs.

Pet care needs

Pet Sitters Ireland began because of McQuillan and her husband Mike’s need to find a solution for their pet care needs when they traveled away.

“We had never enjoyed putting our pets in kennels and so when we realised there were other people that felt the same way we decided that there was a need for Pet Sitters Ireland,” she explained.

“Having successfully worked with numerous clients across Ireland, taking care of their pets and walking their dogs, we realised that our customers wanted to be able to purchase unique pet care items for their furry friends.

“After a great deal of research, and a lot of product testing by Coco our rescue dog, we sourced a number of lines that we felt we would like to stock in our online pet boutique.”
