Woman Led Business Award – PMM

PMM Group is a professional merchandising and marketing service company, with a full range of retail services. The company employs and manages over 200 fully trained and supervised merchandisers nationwide. PMM merchandisers operate weekly in retail stores throughout Ireland, including Tesco Ireland, Dunnes, Supervalu, independent newsagents, pharmacies and all major bank branches. PMM Group was established in 1989 by Paula Lawlor and is based in Colloney, Co. Sligo.

Business Start Up Award – Revive Active Products

Active Products was established in Galway in January 2011 by Dáithí O’Connor and Liam Salmon. It designs, manufactures and markets innovative health products. Available through 800 retail outlets across the UK and Ireland, and worldwide online, its products include an award winning premium health food supplement, a new innovative joint complex and a Krill Oil product, all sold under the Revive Active Brand.

Small Business Award – FCS Global

FCS Global is an independent communications company that provides communication solutions including voice, data and networking servicers to a wide variety of small, medium and large corporate clients worldwide. Established in 2002 by Mike Rowland, it now has bases across Europe, Africa and the US and services over 3,000 sites in 170 countries. It has partnerships with major global services providers including BT, HP, Orange and Accenture. Headquartered in Roscommon, FCS Global has a total of 70 employees.

Established SME Award – Caragh Precision

Caragh Precision, established in 1982, is a manufacturer of precision engineered products for the medical device industry, specializing in orthopaedics, structured heart and vascular access products. The company works closely with medical device manufacturers globally, assisting in all stages of the product lifecycle from concept realization to volume manufacturing. Based in Galway, Caragh Precision employs 90 staff.

 Food and Drink Award – Kelly’s Butchers

Kelly’s Butchers is a traditional artisan butchers shop in Newport, Co Mayo. They produce and sell award winning black and white puddings and sausages. They also produce the ‘Putóg’, a traditional black pudding originally put in a sheep’s stomach casing. Kelly’s black and white pudding is stocked nationwide, primarily in SuperValu and Europa food stores, and the company has recently begun selling in the UK. The Kelly family also operates their own licensed abattoir where they slaughter locally sourced lamb and beef.

The shop was originally founded in the 1930’s, by Sean Kelly’s father, Dominick, but has been run by Sean, his brother Seamus and Sean’s two sons, Kenneth and Cormac since 1982.

Social Enterprise Award – The Food Hub

An initiative of Drumshanbo Community Council, The Food Hub is a voluntary community group that converted an old food factory into an enterprise centre for food and drink companies. Designed to address the needs of food group manufacturers, the food production facility tailors to entrepreneurs who may not have the initial seed capital to invest in a start-up production facility, and to existing businesses who demand cost-effective greater production capacity as their sales volume increase. Established in 2007, the Food Hub also offers sectoral training programmes for the food sector; from start your own food business programmes to culinary skills. The Food Hub employs over 40 people across eight tenant companies.

International Business Award – Lifes2good

Lifes2good is a global health and beauty business, marketing and distributing a portfolio of exclusive and clinically proven brands across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia. Its flagship brand Viviscal is globally recognised as the leading hair-growth dietary supplement.

Lifes2good sells directly to consumers in Ireland, UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Sweden and the US. In addition the company has listings with some of the world’s major retailers such as Boots, Holland & Barrett, Superdrug, Tesco, Walgreens, and Amazon as well as all the major pharmacy chains in Ireland. With over 90 employees, Lifes2good is headquartered in Ballybrit Galway, and has sales and marketing operations in London, Chicago, Madrid, Lisbon, Toronto, Mexico City, Sydney and Istanbul.

Agri-Business Award – Green Earth Organics

Green Earth Organics is an online organic retailer, delivering customised vegetable and other product orders locally and nationwide. Customers register and order online for direct delivery, and can avail of a range of products from fresh vegetable produce to preserves, condiments and other organic products. As well as farming on 18 acres of organically certified land at its base in Corrandulla, Co. Galway, Green Earth Organics buys produce from other Irish suppliers, and also imports organically certified fruit and vegetables to provide a full selection of year-round produce. The business was established in 2006, and currently has six full time and six part time employees.
