2. Best Business Start Up Award – Sedicii
Mobile and online security company Sedicii provides a revolutionary authentication service that keeps your identity safe on the internet. The system allows organisations to verify user details – including passwords, credit card and other private information – without having that data stored on its own servers. In other words, if the company is hacked, the hacker won’t get any customer information because there’s none stored there. Founded in December 2013 by Richard Coady and Rob Leslie, Sedicii is based at the ArcLabs Research & Innovation Centre at Waterford Institute of Technology.
3. Small Business Award – Q1 Scientific
Q1 Scientific provides outsourced stability storage and sample management services to the pharmaceutical and medical device sector. Located in Waterford, Q1 Scientific’s purpose built facility is designed to offer a safe, secure and stable environment for pharmaceutical samples.Q1 Scientific was founded in December 2012 by Louise Grubb after she sold her previous business, animal food supplement company Nutri Science.
4. Established SME Award – Reagecon Diagnostics
Reagecon Diagnostics develops, manufactures, and distributes physical and chemical standards and reagents for laboratories worldwide.
The company also offers customized manufacturing, training, and technical services. Its customers include organizations that operate laboratories, clean rooms, and processing and production plants in the pharmaceutical, clinical, environmental, life sciences, food technology, and education sectors. The company offers its products through its network of distributors, as well as online, and supplies its products in 150 countries worldwide. Reagecon Diagnostics was founded in 1990 and is based in Shannon, Ireland. The company is the largest producer of calibration standards in the world.
5. Food & Drink Award – Chia Bia
Chia Bia started in 2009 when co-founder Barrie Rogers discovered the power of chia seeds when suffered a back injury while in America. Chia Bia is now the largest supplier of chia seeds and chia seed products to the Irish and UK markets and is growing fast internationally. 6. Social Enterprise Award – Irish Community Rapid Response
Irish Community Rapid Response (ICRR) is a Cork-based voluntary group working in partnership with and supporting the existing emergency services. ICRR vehicles and volunteers – made up of local doctors and advanced paramedics – are called simultaneously with the state services when a serious emergency occurs. ICRR currently have three teams nationally, Wicklow Rapid Response, West Cork Rapid Response and East Cork Rapid Response who work with and compliment all front-line emergency services including the National Ambulance Service, the Coast Guard, the Fire Service and the RNLI.
7. International Business Award – TTM Healthcare
TTM Healthcare is a leading healthcare recruiter, providing healthcare professionals to the public, private and not-for-profit sectors in Ireland and the UK. Established in 2002, TTM Healthcare employs over 180 staff directly and engages over 800 health and social care contractors through its network of offices across Ireland and the UK, as well as Poland and Germany. 8. Agri-Business Award – Wood Energy Solutions
Wood Energy Solutions (WES) is a manufacturer of carbon neutral wood pellet fueled heating products. Established in 2010 by Declan Crosse, the company exports wood-pellet boilers to the UK, Canada, the US and New Zealand. There are currently over 2,500 wood pellet boilers in operation worldwide which have been designed by WES engineers. WES has 32 employees and is based in Tipperary.
