In September of 2013 Jake Baadsgaard hired Johnathn Dane to work on an account for the newly formed PPC Agency, Disruptive Advertising. After a short period of time they had the chance to meet at the Traffic & Conversion Summit in San Francisco. Both managing small agencies realize they shared the same passions and vision to grow a killer agency. As they say, that’s when the bromance began and a partnership was forged.
The idea of Disruptive was more formally kicked off when employee #1 Casey Walrath decided to take a chance and see if the work Baadsgaard was doing could be replicated. Casey setup shop at Jakes house using a chessboard as his first desk. For the most part Casey observed and really learned PPC of his own. There were many times where the duo felt like calling it quits but pushed though the initial startup pains. Walrath remains a top performer and huge asset to the team.
As things quickly started to materialize the search began for a rock star PPC team member. A variety PPC “experts” were tested here in the Utah market. Many applied but none materialized into stellar performers. The thought of growing the business and running a PPC team seemed out of reach. One day Baadsgaard was consulting with Johnathan on some client work and realized the solution to his growth concerns might just be a relationship away. After giving Dane a few additional contracts to further test his abilities, Baadsgaard was blown away by how quickly he could grow accounts. This was especially impressive because his execution was on par with the more experienced veterans in the enterprise space.
Dane was already successfully running Kientboost but Baadsgaard knew he was the perfect business partner and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. J After a visit to Utah and more persuasive conversations, they solidified their relationship under the premise that while success could be had independently they could accomplish greater things together and have more fun doing it.
As Disruptive Advertising has grown, we strive to bring on amazing talent and stick to our mantra of accomplishing the greater together and having fun along the way. We’ve built a solid team of 20+ PPC experts and designers and have accomplished some notable things.
