Ulster Bank has underlined its commitment to female entrepreneurship by supporting Northern Ireland’s first International Business Womens Conference (IBWC 2014), citing local business women as ‘a hugely valuable, yet largely untapped resource’.
The Bank has partnered with Women in Business NI (WIBNI), hosts of IBWC 2014, which will welcome business representatives from across the globe to Belfast for a three day conference programme (12th – 15th May). Under the theme of ‘Creating a New Economy’, the conference will explore the issues facing business people across the globe, based around the belief that a sustainable and vibrant economy can be achieved when men and women work together to maximise opportunity and growth.
Head of Ulster Bank Northern Ireland, Ellvena Graham said:
Year on year we are seeing more women starting their own businesses and taking on senior roles within established SMEs. In an economy which needs fresh thinking and innovation, we believe it is vital to harness that ambition and help women in every way possible to achieve their business goals.
We are proud to be involved with Northern Ireland’s first International Business Womens Conference, the aim of which mirrors that of Ulster Bank, to help business women unlock their full potential.
Ulster Bank has a number of initiatives and resources in place to provide support to Northern Ireland business women. Its ‘Business Women Can’ programme provides online and community based guidance to women in business; and its internal network ‘Women in Touch’ was set up by Ellvena Graham to forge beneficial networking and career development opportunities for women in managerial positions.
Established in 2002, Women in Business NI is Northern Ireland’s largest network for female entrepreneurs and business leaders, with over 1000 members from a wide range of industry sectors.
Roseann Kelly, Chief Executive of Women in Business NI said:
We are delighted to have secured the support of Ulster Bank for our first International Business Womens Conference. The bank’s commitment to helping women in business is hugely commendable and we are encouraged by their continued work in this area.
