“We’re sorry” says Ulster Bank boss

“We’re sorry and our number 1 job right now is to put things right” said the boss of Ulster Bank’s corporate banking division, David Thomas. Speaking to SBC as Ulster Bank announced steps to make amends for the havoc caused during the recent RBS IT systems incident, Thomas went on to thank SME customers for their support.

Thomas said “What happened to us was a business catastrophe. We know it had a massive impact on our customers who have been fantastic in their support during the incident. They understood that we were working incredibly hard to fix it and now it’s our turn to say thank you for sticking with us. We’re doing that by putting things right for our customers and helping them to get on with building their businesses.”

Ulster Bank announced a range of measures including automatically refunding fees, charges and debit interest; reimbursing out of pocket expenses; reassuring customers that credit ratings will not be permanently affected and recognising the inconvenience caused to customers by the RBS systems failure.
