Teenage entrepreneurs from six counties around Ireland returned home this week, keen to apply to their own company, the key business concepts they learned at the Winners Bootcamp, held last week (June 4th – 7th) in the University of Limerick.
Supported by their local County and City Enterprise Boards, the students attended the four day business bootcamp, which was sponsored by Ulster Bank, at the Nexus Innovation Centre. During the Winners Bootcamp, the students from the six enterprises were taught how to develop their business ideas using tools such as product visualisation, business canvases and storyboarding, culminating on the final morning in a series of team pitches, which the students presented to a panel of business experts.

Student enterprises from six counties attended the business bootcamp, which was designed to develop the students’ entrepreneurial skills.
In total, 19 students participated in the Winners Bootcamp, representing the Counties Leitrim, Kerry, Limerick, Monaghan, Wexford and Dublin. Participating as winners in the Senior Category of the Senior Enterprise Awards National Finals in April, the students are now taking these enhanced skills back to their Counties and implementing them in their own businesses.
The Winners’ Bootcamp was introduced for the first time this year as part of the Student Enterprise Awards Programme, which annually sees more than 15,000 budding entrepreneurs from over 300 secondary schools participate. The programme commences at the start of the school year in September, with regional finalists competing at the National Finals in April.
The Student Enterprise Awards Programme is organised by the County and City Enterprise Boards and begins in September. Full details of the programme can be found on www.studententerprise.ie
